The start date of Acura ARX-05 prototype is already known

The Japanese brand officially presented ARX-05 racing prototype that will take a part in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in America. Within 2017 Concours d’Elegance hold in Pebble Beach in California in August 18 the Company unveiled the new fifth generation Acura Racing eXperimental.

Acura Design Studio, located in Los Angeles became the place for Acura ARX-05 racing prototype’s development. The novelty meets the requirements for cars participated in World Endurance Races Championship. It is also known that the sports car is based on the ORECA 07 French prototype, which, in turn, was built according to the 2017WEC regulations.

It is also reported that Honda Performance Development (HPD) division will manage the IMSA championship’s racing program while the Team Penske will service the cars. In the engine compartment of the racing prototype Acura ARX-05 there is installed AR3TT turbo motor that is based on a 3.5-liter V6 motor with supercharger that also equips the citizen models such as MDX, TLX and RLX. The Company does not inform about the output of the power unit. The debut of the car on the track will take place within the 24-hour marathon in Daytona in 2018.
